Complete setup process — from unboxing to live displacement monitoring
PHASE 1: PREPARATION
Step 1 — Unbox & Verify Components
Check everything is present and undamaged before heading to site.
- TotaLite Sensor + Shield
- AC/DC Power Adapter (12V, 1.5A)
- Power Splitter Cable
Step 2 — Create a Project in the TotaLite Platform
Set up your monitoring project before going to site.
- Obtain login credentials from the TotaLite team
- Log in at app.totalite.io
- Create a new project and assign your sensor to it
📖 Reference: TotaLite Platform
Step 3 — Download the TotaLite Mobile App
Install the app on your phone before going to site.
- Android: Download via Firebase App Distribution
- iOS: Install TestFlight first, then join via TestFlight link

PHASE 2: HARDWARE INSTALLATION
Step 4 — Mount the TotaLite Sensor
The sensor must be installed rigidly — any translational movement invalidates measurements.
- The TotaLite Sensor should be installed outside the zone of influence, on a rigid mount.
- Minimise vibration and ensure zero translational movement and flex in the mounting.
- When possible, avoid to mount the sensor with a pitch and/or roll angle of more than 20°.
- If the sensor mounting sinks over the life of the project, it will hinder data quality.

Step 5 — Install Survey Prisms
Mount prisms firmly on the structures you want to monitor.
- Minimum angular separation: 2° between targets
- At 10 m → targets ≥ 0.35 m apart | At 50 m → ≥ 1.75 m apart
- Drill into concrete for a stable, permanent connection
- Face the prism center toward the TotaLite sensor
- Max range: 70m
- Record the slope distance from each prism to the sensor lens — you'll need these later

Step 6 — Connect Power
Power up the sensor and shield using the supplied cable set.
- Use the provided 12V adapter and power splitter cable
- Connect both the sensor and shield M12 connectors at the back of the device
- Accepted input: 9.5–24V DC, minimum 18W
- Confirm status via LED indicators on the sensor
⚠️ Do not extend power cables beyond 3 m. Longer cables may cause voltage drop and unstable operation.

PHASE 3: SENSOR CONFIGURATION
Step 7 — Connect the Mobile App to the Sensor
Pair your phone via Bluetooth, then switch to the sensor's WiFi network.
- Open the app, tap Sign In, enter your email, then tap Continue — you'll authenticate securely and land on your dashboard. Use the same credentials as your TotaLite Platform account.
- From the Home screen, tap "View Devices" to see all the devices linked to your account, then start the setup wizard for a specific device assigned to a project.
- For documentation access, open the TotaLite User Guide under Quick Actions. Use the bottom navigation bar to move between Home, Devices, and Support.

Step 8 — Configure App Wizard
- Set up your project on the platform first. Your device needs to sit in a project with no baseline configured before the wizard will start.
- Budget 20 minutes on site. The wizard walks you through mounting, power, and target scanning — keep the line of sight clear during measurement.
- Check target separation before you leave. Targets flagged too close together need to be moved and re-measured, or excluded.
- Record slope distances on site. You'll need them for baseline setup back on the platform — that's where the installation actually finishes.

PHASE 4: SYSTEM SETUP
Step 9 — Create a Baseline in the Platform
The baseline is the reference point for all future displacement measurements.
- Go to your project → click Create Baseline
- Select the date/time for the baseline measurement
- Name each target and enter its slope distance (sensor lens to prism center)
- Mark 1 reference target for yaw compensation
- Mark a 2nd reference target only if the sensor tilt (pitch/roll) exceeds 20°
📖 Reference: Create the Baseline
Step 10 — Set Up Target Pairs (Optional)
Required only if you need relative displacement measurements between two targets.
- In the platform, drag a line between two targets to create a pair
- Skip this step if only absolute displacement data is needed

Step 11 — Set up Threshold Alerts
Set thresholds early.
- Click Set Alerts on a displacement chart, and enter a value per target (1 mm–499 mm). Monitoring starts from that moment — nothing is backdated.
- Thresholds cover both directions. A 3 mm threshold alerts on displacement past +3 mm or −3 mm.
- Alerts trigger after 1 hour past threshold. Organisation admins get notified by email.
- Check the 90-day status bar regularly. Green means no alerts; red means review it — click through to see which target, and when.

Step 12 — Final Verification & Quality Check
Confirm the system is healthy and data is flowing before closing out the installation.
- Confirm data connectivity: LTE or Ethernet active
- Verify that measurements are appearing in the platform
- Review data quality metrics: CQF > 70% and SNR > 18 dB
- Contact the TotaLite team for a baseline quality assessment
