Device Setup Wizard
Start the wizard from the Home screen (View devices) or from Devices in the bottom navigation. Select the device to open its detail page, then tap Start setup.
Your device must belong to a project with no baseline configured. If it doesn't, the app will tell you. Two cases:
- Device isn't assigned to a project — open the platform, create a new project, and select the TotaLite device. Return to the app.
- Device is part of a project with a configured baseline — open the platform, remove the device from that project, create a new project with it, then return to the app.
The wizard covers 14 steps, from pre-setup checks to live monitoring.
Step 1 — Before you start
Setup takes about 20 minutes. Tap Start when you're ready.
Step 2 — Preparation
What's ahead:
- Pre-setup checks — device, targets, and surroundings
- Set device power — matched to the farthest target
- Scan for targets — keep the line of sight clear
- Check setup — review and adjust any issues
- Name targets — confirm and name what's detected
- Finish setup — review, then complete
Tap Continue.
Steps 3–5 — Pre-setup checks
Is the TotaLite in position?
Mount the device at the monitoring location, aimed at the targets. Use a stable anchor point with a short lever arm — a concrete wall over a tripod. Tap Continue.
Is the TotaLite connected to power?
Plug in the power cable and confirm both M12 connectors are fully seated in the back panel. Tap Continue.
Are the targets clean and undamaged?
Check each target for dirt, deposits, cracks, and scratches. Tap Continue.
Step 7 — Device power
Set the distance to the farthest target with the slider (5–70 m). The app configures LED power automatically. Tap Continue.
Step 8 — Notifications
Enable notifications to be alerted when the first measurement is ready — it takes 10–15 minutes. Tap Allow notifications or Not now.
Step 9 — Measurement
The device is measuring. Keep the field of view clear until it finishes; elapsed time shows on screen.
When done, the screen confirms Measurement complete. Check the constellation — confirm all targets are visible and valid — then tap Continue.
Step 10 — Validate targets
All detected targets appear on a grid. Tap a target to include or exclude it. Included targets show green; excluded ones are greyed out. Tap Continue once your selection is set.
Step 11 — Target separation
The app checks that included targets have enough separation for accurate measurement.
All targets valid (green banner)
Tap Continue.
Targets too close (red banner)
Flagged targets don't have enough separation. Two options:
- Adjust targets and restart — move the targets further apart on site, then re-measure
- Exclude and continue — remove the flagged targets and proceed with the rest
Note: Check the minimum separation requirements in the Installation Guidelines before adjusting.
Step 12 — Name & save
Name each included target for identification on the platform. Tap a target on the grid to assign a name — names can be updated later on the platform. Tap Continue when done.
Step 13 — Setup complete
Your TotaLite is live. Head to the platform to set up your project and read the first measurements. Tap Return to homescreen.
Step 14 — Measure the slope distance
Before leaving the site, measure the slope distance from the device lens to each prism center. This is a physical, on-site measurement — you'll need it for baseline setup.
Note: Slope distance is the straight-line distance from lens to prism center along the line of sight, not the horizontal distance.
Record each value. You'll enter them during baseline setup on the TotaLite Platform.
Step 15 — Continue in the platform
The on-site installation is complete. Open the platform to set up a baseline for your TotaLite. Baseline setup covers slope distances, reference targets, and optional target pairs.
