Best practices for image validation

Image Validation Checklist

  1. Visual Inspection of Target Images
  • Target Visibility: Confirm all targets appear clearly in the baseline setup image
    • Each target should be visible with distinct boundaries
    • No targets should be obscured by obstacles
    • Look for the system's target identification markers (usually highlighted or outlined in red)
  1. Target Identification Verification
  • Target Count: Verify the number of targets identified matches your expected count
    • Cross-check against your target configuration list
  • Position Check: Confirm the system has correctly identified targets at their intended positions
    • Compare identified target locations against your installation plan
  1. Quality Indicators
  • Target Detection Confidence: Check the confidence levels shown for each target
    • The system displays CQF (Correlation Quality Factor) percentages for each target
    • All targets should have a CQF above 70% (ideally above 90%)
  • Signal Strength: Verify adequate SNR (Signal-to-Noise Ratio) for each target
    • All targets should display an SNR above 18 dB (ideally above 23 dB)
    • Lower values may indicate poor reflectivity or environmental interference

Common Image Issues and Solutions

If targets are missing or incorrectly identified:

  1. Lighting Conditions: Adjust environmental lighting or system settings
  2. Target Surface: Clean targets or adjust their orientation for better reflectivity
  3. Obstructions: Remove any objects blocking the line of sight
  4. Focus: Check that the system's optics are properly focused
  5. Range Setting: Verify the system's search radius is appropriate for your target layout

Verification Process

  1. Open the baseline setup image in the TotaLite interface
  2. Enable target identification overlay (usually found in the "View" menu)
  3. Compare the identified targets against your installation plan
  4. Check each target's quality metrics in the "Target Configuration" section
  5. Document any discrepancies for troubleshooting
